CHR was delighted to welcome Senator Richard Blumenthal to our Roots to Recovery program in Willimantic, where federal dollars are supporting a major renovation project that will expand lifesaving services for men with substance use disorders. Specifically, Senator Blumenthal, together with Senator Chris Murphy, helped to allocate nearly $600,000 for this important work.

“We started these efforts, and requested assistance from Senator Blumenthal, to meet serious needs in the community and provide a full continuum of care to help men on their journey to lasting health and recovery,” said Heather Gates, CHR’s President and CEO, and First Vice Chair of the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

“Hope and care are priceless,” Senator Blumenthal said, noting that federal dollars are investing in human capital and will help men reach their potential and contribute to the community.

The construction project is expected to be completed this summer and is being led by Orlando Annulli and Sons, with architectural support from Paul B. Bailey Architect.
