Now in its 10th year, Real Life, Real Hope Moments, a powerful collaboration between CT Public and nonprofit behavioral healthcare provider Community Health Resources (CHR), continues to capture stories of hope and recovery from individuals across Connecticut.

“From the beginning, our shared goal for Real Life, Real Hope Moments was to produce real-life stories, told in each person’s unique voice, to help diminish the stigma surrounding mental health and substance use treatment, and provide hope to listeners who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, or addiction,” said Heather Gates, President and CEO of CHR.

“We are grateful to CT Public Radio for their continued partnership and deeply appreciate all of the individuals who have bravely shared their stories, struggles, and paths to recovery through this initiative,” she added, noting that Real Life, Real Hope Moments airs throughout the year during WNPR’s Morning Edition and the complete archive is available online.

“Real Life, Real Hope Moments are very important for families and individuals impacted by addiction and other behavioral health issues. We are proud to partner with CHR to help share these stories of hope and resilience,” said Nancy Bauer, Senior Sales Director for CT Public.

National Recognition

The Real Life, Real Hope Moments project has received national recognition, including a recent Aspect Award for behavioral health messaging in the category of audio, radio, and podcast, and was recognized as a 2024 finalist in Ragan’s prestigious PR Daily Awards in the category of Social Justice/Advocacy Campaign.
