Miranda Muro, Senior Director of Network Relations for Connecticut Foodshare, is the new Chair of the Board of Directors for Community Health Resources (CHR), the state’s most comprehensive non-profit behavioral healthcare agency.

“Miranda’s leadership and compassion will help CHR as we continue to address serious problems in the region and help people of all ages achieve recovery from mental illness, addiction, homelessness, and the effects of trauma,” said Heather Gates, President and CEO of CHR. “Miranda’s insights and guidance will be greatly appreciated.”

Muro, of Coventry, succeeds Cy Hess, of Riverside Retirement Advisors, who is now the Past Chair of the Board and remains on the Executive Committee. Other officers of CHR’s Board include Vice Chair Sharon Langer, a community member and retired attorney; Treasurer Ayesha Clarke, President and CEO of Health Equity Solutions; and Secretary Nicole Belding of Fiondella, Milone & LaSaracina, LLP.

Muro has been an active member of CHR’s Board for more than six years, serving on the Development and Executive Committees. A graduate of Clark University for both her undergraduate and master’s degree, Muro oversees relationships with food pantries and meal programs across the state, working with staff, volunteers, and community partners of Connecticut Foodshare. Her areas of focus include nonprofit programming, organizational planning, grant writing and management, program evaluation, legislative advocacy, and community outreach.

She has received numerous academic and civic accolades throughout her career and was named one of the 2020 Forty under 40 by the Hartford Business Journal.

“CHR is moving forward in many exciting and innovative ways to meet the needs of our state. I look forward to helping the agency continue to grow and be a force for real change for adults, children and families in Connecticut,” Muro said.
