USA Today and Newsweek Honor CT’s Most Comprehensive Behavioral Healthcare Provider
Following 11 years of statewide recognition as an empowering and welcoming employer, Community Health Resources (CHR), Connecticut’s most comprehensive nonprofit behavioral healthcare provider, was recently honored by both USA TODAY and Newsweek for being a national top workplace.
- The 2025 USATODAY Top Workplaces Award honors organizations with 150 or more employees that have created exceptional, people-first cultures. This year, more than 42,000 organizations were invited to participate. Winners are recognized for their commitment to fostering a workplace environment that values employee listening and engagement, as illustrated by findings from a confidential survey conducted by Energage, the HR research and technology company behind the Top Workplaces. Results are calculated based on confidential responses to questions about the workplace experience.
- In addition, CHR was named one of America’s Greatest Midsized Workplaces 2025 by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group. This distinction recognizes companies through a rigorous evaluation based on online employee reviews, publicly available data, an extensive survey, and the evaluation of more than 120 Key Performance Indicators related to culture and the workplace experience.
“These awards are a testament to CHR’s talented and compassionate workforce,” said Heather Gates, CHR’s President and CEO. “Our employees give so much to the individuals and communities we serve, and I’m so proud that they are being honored with these national distinctions,” she added, noting that CHR works hard to maintain a welcoming and supportive environment where employees can reach their full potential, and provide the highest quality care for the individuals and families we serve.
For the last 11 years, CHR has been named among the Top Workplaces in CT, in the category of large employers, and has won awards for providing work-life balance, meaningful work, and excellent training programs. In addition, Heather Gates has been named a “Top Leader” three times since 2016.
About CHR: CHR is Connecticut’s most comprehensive, nonprofit behavioral healthcare agency, offering a broad range of services for people of all ages whose lives have been touched by mental illness, addiction, trauma, homelessness and more. Accredited by The Joint Commission, CHR was the first nonprofit in CT to meet all of the rigorous federal criteria as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic and has repeatedly been named among the Top Workplaces in the state.
