Maureen is an accomplished marketing and communications professional who has worked in non-profit, government and healthcare sectors throughout her career. She joins CHR from UConn Health in Farmington, where she led all facets of communications, marketing and public relations and collaborated closely with colleagues in fund raising and business development.

A graduate of Providence College and Wesleyan University’s graduate program in liberal studies, Maureen brings to CHR years of relevant experience, including pivotal work in community relations, brand identity and media relations.

Prior to her work at UConn Health, Maureen served as media relations manager and publications manager for the former Newington Children’s Hospital. Her position was created to help promote the opening of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center which consolidated pediatric care from Newington Children’s Hospital, Hartford Hospital and UConn Health.

In addition, Maureen worked in Washington, D.C., as press secretary for former Congressman Sam Gejdenson and previously worked as communications director for United Way of Southeastern Connecticut. She started her career as a reporter for the Norwich Bulletin, covering several towns in eastern Connecticut.

Maureen grew up in New London and is from a family with a strong commitment to community service. Her mother, Kathleen McGuire, served for many years as director of Catholic Charities in New London and was a tireless advocate for the poor and underserved.
