Description
Provides all aspects of service as a Developmental Specialist, with particular focus on specialized behavioral individual and community assessment leading to implementation of specialized positive behavior/rehabilitation programs for designated clients. ACCOUNTABLE AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING RESULTS: Provides full range of specialized developmental/behavioral assessment and evaluation services for designated clients • Selects and administers objective and projective psycho-diagnostic tests • Analyzes and interprets test results • Writes reports, including profiles on intellectual functioning and personality organization • Writes comprehensive functional behavioral assessments • Train and implement comprehensive positive behavior support plans with agency staff and community providers • Follow all behavior plans for consistency and quality of care • Successfully complete competency training in applied behavior analysis and positive behavior plans through the YAS Office of the Commissioner. Provides direct interventions to clients • Conducts individual and group psychotherapy, family therapy, and crisis intervention • Designs and provides behavior modification services and milieu therapy approaches • Provides individualized rehabilitation services • Employs specialized behavioral techniques • Develops and assists in placement options for individually designed educational and vocational programming • Provides consultation to families, community, and other providers as needed Collects and analyses data • Collects and analyzes data • Assesses effectiveness of behavioral and other interventions Engages in program development and evaluation activities • Develops methods for measuring program outcomes General Duties • Documents ongoing client progress • Works with clients to develop appropriate discharge plans utilizing natural supports • Performs home or outreach visits when appropriate. • Demonstrates competency in age related or specialty issues and developmental needs for each population served • Responsible for maintaining client and staff records according to agency policy • Participates as full member of team • Participates actively in maintaining a safe and positive environment . • Keeps abreast of all agency policies and procedures. • Reports client injuries and incidents to supervisor • Sets positive example of interaction with clients and other staff. • Takes initiative in interaction with clients in order to set an example of appropriate relationships • Maintains client confidentiality • Keeps abreast of current ideas, theories and research regarding treatment of population May perform other assignments and duties, as area needs require
Minimum Requirements
| • Doctorate in Psychology and (2) years of experience from a program accredited by a regional board; including at least one year of working with clients with severe and prolonged behavioral health illnesses. • License preferred. • Considerable knowledge of general psychological theory and its application to treatment, rehabilitation, and research programs • Ability to provide case formulation and develop focused, goal oriented treatment plans, related to client’s treatment readiness or developmental level and problem identification. • Familiarity with psychotropic medications. • Ability to collaborate, make appropriate referrals, and interface with numerous other professions, maintaining professional boundary and advocating for client. • Ability to articulate treatment needs to, and deal with insurance companies/ MCO’s including documentation. • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing cogently and in a timely manner. • Excellent demonstrated organizational skills. • Ability to work independently. • Ability to use supervision/consultation to learn and provide more effective treatment services. • Desire to grow/develop professionally. • Experience in staff supervision |
